I’m still thinking about the ghoulishness of “herd immunity” as a response to novel coronavirus when I’m not even sure there’s evidence that post-infection immunity is permanent. It’s actually making my stomach turn

Re-infection is *unlikely and people may develop a protective antibody but it is unclear how long that lasts.* Meanwhile over half of a population must be infected in order to develop herd immunity. That’s a horrifyingly risky fucking gamble for a state to take as a strategy.

I know lockdown sucks and can be such a mental-emotional health strain but please folks, if you are able, do that. Let’s get whatsapp and video chat groups poppin, physical distancing doesn’t demand total social isolation.

It's insane how quickly western society turns to covert genocide to solve its problems.

The moment I heard “herd immunity” felt immediately repulsed by it but don’t have a language for why, reverberates with some other knowledge. All I could think of was British Empire.

the casual, nonchalance talk of half-a-million deaths (bizarrely assuming the NHS isn't overrun, and well over a million if it is) as a planned strategy in the UK media is terrifying, even beyond what's happening in the US

Letting it be overrun is probably part of the plan, since it's a great justification for privatisation

I cried when I found out they were actually following through with it as a plan and it wasn’t a error in coverage like I hoped earlier in the week.

Especially since I had seen this coverage. Not that I’m trusting much out of the states: https://thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/prevention-cures/484942-japan-confirms-first-case-of-person-reinfected …
