Instead, we’ve released the new shielded money protocol (codenamed “Zcash Orchard”) under a “copyleft”-style open source licence that allows anyone to do anything with it under the condition that they open-source their codebase under the same licence.

Our previous-generation technology—Zcash Sapling—set the standard for shielded money, and was widely copied and used throughout the cryptocurrency industry. We’ve already been approached by multiple other coins that want to use our next-generation shielded money protocol.

This is the first statement in your explanation that doesn't look like great news. This license choice will create friction and chilling effects for advancement of open source development and adoption of the technologies involved. It remains to be seen how much.
