    - Anyone who used to get weekends off but doesn't anymore - anyone who used to not mind working weekends but now does mind (a lot) - basically anyone.

I'm looking for anyone who works weekends, regularly enough that "weekend" has become redundant as a leisure concept: - anyone who has never really had the w/kend off - anyone who is technically off work but could never complete their workload without working w/ends (eg teachers)

I still think learning a not-very-widely-spoken language is a lot of effort for low reward. It does not follow that I hate Wales, the Welsh, the Welsh language or its speakers. I do not hate performative offence-takers, though I’ve muted a few. I do not even hate cottage cheese

Welsh is not very widely spoken. I take the point that some people learn languages for their beauty rather than their reach, and therefore understand that it’s possible to disagree with me. I would go as far as to say I am completely down with being disagreed with. >>

I appear to have triggered a Welsh independence movement with my fitness column. Specifically, this line: “All that energy spent, no distance covered, like eating cottage cheese or learning Welsh.” I feel I should clarify: learning languages is notoriously hard >>

’s interview confirmed the worst this morning - we are looking at a -style deal (ie hard ) as *best* possible option. No deal remains a clear possibility.

Need other, less vulnerable people to look after them. 3. Climate change front & centre. What I didn’t like: 1. the phrase ‘leg of the journey’ sounds like someone’s dad explaining how to get to Glastonbury. 2. Actually, that was it.

What I liked: 1. Focus on structural/economic change as obvious and inevitable (rather than ‘we will act as buffer between you and broken but omnipotent system). 2. Conception of poverty as an injustice (‘discriminated against’) rather than a random bunch of vulnerable ppl who >>

I feel like Nandy is queuing up an elaborate joke here: if we renamed OBE from order of British Empire to Order of British Excellence, that would make Starmer a Knight of British Excellence, which sounds like a theme hotel

The bedside book pile is bad enough, but the second order ‘things to read during all that spare time you have in the kitchen’ is just mad.

I loved it yesterday when someone called molly Scott Cato a sad loser & she said, ‘yes, I guess that’s exactly what I am’. But I also love this: yes we lost, & you want us to get over it. Careful what you wish for.

My kid made me print out his homework and I did a second version for his amusement (The canadian leader is not, as many suppose, called Maple Boyo, but Justin Trudeau), and I have given him the *wrong* version and am now sat staring at the correct version.

Genuinely didn’t think I had it in me to get angry with the departing director general of the bbc, but apparently the rage is always there if I sit down for long enough
