To put it another way, it's equal to 0.4 GameCubes duct-taped together. (https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Corporate/Nintendo-History/Nintendo-GameCube/Technical-Details/Technical-Details-627134.html …)

I'm assuming the PlayDate only uses the CPU's internal RAM. The STM32F7 supports external RAM up to 256MB, but most boards do not add external RAM due to complexity and cost. 512KB of internal RAM is more than enough for most games.

The Pebble Time 2 - famous for its 10 day battery life - also uses a STM32F7, so the battery life on the PlayDate will probably be amazing.

Correction: Game Boy Advance has 7.35 DMIPS, not 7.65 (sorry about the typo!). Figure obtained from http://www.dwelch.com/gba/dhry.htm .

Since we’re running with a lower core voltage to save power, we’re limited to 180MHz. We do have plenty of external RAM. 320 KB would be pretty restrictive :)

Thank you so much for your response and your hard work on the console! * me grabs a dewar of liquid nitrogen and starts reading the STM32F745 datasheet section on "Overclocking",
