I can't believe Reddit was one of the things that temporarily restored my faith in humanity: a thread.
Lemme open by saying I didn't even have an account until this year. My bff was dating an incel who always complained about 'brown sjws' + made seem like Reddit was strictly a haven for people like him. My bff was a (perfomative) brown sjw.

That being said, i finally logged on when I realized most of the content I was looking at, across multiple websites, was upcycled without credit from mostly Reddit

Anyway, like for starters: you can find advice about e v e r y t h i n g on that bitch. Everything, and like, people will argue your opinion without immediately resorting to ad hominem attacks 80% of the time. There are areas specifically for that kind of behavior tho if u dig it

It's design is really minimalistic and easy to navigate. The topics being sorted and organized (and moderated) like they are is another thing I like about it. Everything is easy to find and the algorithm for the front page is fine imo.

The subtopics are usually full or resulources that help users properly interact within that space and, if it's a space for seeking resources specifically, the bulletins usually help connect that person with irl resources to help with to whatever they need

NSFW posts are filtered really well. Haven't run into one without having first gone ISO. The rules in general, though seemingly unrelenting, are easy to understand and for the most part you won't be spending much time helicopter modding since things are removed pretty fast

I do wish u could see pics in app though. I think I know why they aren't hosted directly on Reddit but I still wish they kind of were.

Even if u do end up saying something I'll informed or borderline offensive, you often don't have people blowing up your inbox or page or launching smear campaigns against you like on Tumblr. Lmao Jesus

One thing I will say is that since it's set up like this there's a clear demarcation between public friendly content and shit like r\watchpeopledie and its unpleasant as fuck. I'm like glad these people aren't running around freely posting shit like that in other subs but wtfff

Idea man, like I'm glad people aren't as terrible as I think they are but perturbed that it could be worse???
