    I may have less than altruistic reasons for wanting people to read this list.

    last summer after our senior year in high school, me and some friends had a party on the beach and then when we were out driving we hit a guy. on the road. and then dropped him into the ocean. but it's fine, this summer is definitely going to turn out great.

    we're watching AN AMERICAN IN PARIS tonight--i've seen it before, and vaguely remembered that Gene Kelly is kind of a creep in it, but holy shit. gorgeous movie, stunning dancing, Kelly is an amazing performer but he is _such_ a shit in this.

    did you hear about the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical? only ran for a week or so--a black guy with a hook hand kept appearing on stage in the first act, no idea how he got there. he seemed as confused as anyone, but nice enough; it was the bees that were a problem.

    i can see the new movies mattering a lot to people, and i respect that. it's just, for me, if the people in Peter's life aren't always in danger of heart attacks, neck-snapping, or turning into a costumed sociopath, the magic isn't there.

    saw a bit of Homecoming, and it struck me how weird it is to give Peter Parker a best friend who is a.) nerdier than he is and b.) not a self-pitying neurotic rich kid on the verge of snapping under the Oepidal weight of his super-villain dad.
