Those play-by-play gossipy stories that appear newsy but aren't? (What was his mood? Who said what?) Besides being a distraction and taking up news oxygen, to write them, you gotta suck up to those close to power who will then leak to you. That, not the jokes, is the issue.

The mass media published/broadcast hundreds of useful stories today that had nothing to do with the latest kerfuffle. Why not use our online presence to draw attention to them instead of bemoaning (& drawing attention to) lesser stories? Ignore the crap, point us to the gems!
