Maybe there are workarounds but that’s not the point. Monopoly and legacy have strong pull and lengthy life online. Markets don’t function the way they might for truer commodities (even there, it’s complicated but often not this bad).

Also to be clear, I strongly greatly dislike desktop MS Outlook too. And browser. Every time I have to upgrade, I groan. I upgrade because of security, but the user interface keeps getting worse for me. It’s an email program, let me keep my habits! I’ve no choice at work, though.

Having to use Outlook and Word were the least pleasant parts of my government positions...

Sounds like you would have loved the good ol' WordPerfect days

The coup de grace is when you get stuck with MS Teams as a result too... :(

Embarassing fact: I actually love the mobile Outlook app. At least on Android, you can attach a file. Choose the paperclip icon in your message --> "choose from device files" I feel like it's also possible on iPhone, but I gave up mine so i can't confirm.

I liked Dreaming in Code for the humanizing tale of a team that thoroughly failed to beat Outlook despite good management and bottomless piles of cash. https://www.amazon.com/Dreaming-Code-Programmers-Transcendent-Software/dp/1400082471 …

no paperclip in the toolbar at the bottom of the compose screen? there's something odd on your device (agree it shouldn't happen but the functionality is there in the app)
-
Don’t use the app. (Another groan story there about IT policies in universities).
