Sure, people want free shipping and do like Amazon's convenience; but they also want Amazon to pay taxes to help pay for the USPS infrastructure that allows for rural and far-flung communities to receive *subsidized* delivery. This stuff is obvious once you step out of DC-bubble.

I'm not arguing that his policies are consistent or statements are correct. There's a way in which he feels his way into popular *sentiments* that DC bubble is blind to. I think he's worse at it since he doesn't do rallies. That's what rallies did for him.https://twitter.com/MorganRaeBerk/status/981179461805662208 …

Of course they do! My point isn't that. This one won't hit because the beneficiary of both Amazon and USPS (rural communities) just want both to continue. The point is, there is a sentiment here that we will see more of, and it won't always be incoherent.https://twitter.com/BradCorContrera/status/981181836029132800 …

In any case, my point isn't about this moment. There is going to be competent and more coherent versions of these sentiments—that are somewhat orthogonal to beltway political divides—from across the political spectrum, and we'll likely see a lot of it in 2020, and even in 2018.

Correct! Fact-checking and arguing this one is fine—and not my point— and now that he doesn't have rallies, he's not as skilled. There will be others, soon, across the political spectrum. Both parties are throwing up "insurgent" candidates for a reason.https://twitter.com/AnatoleSerial/status/981188822338859008 …

Yep. So many people are missing this issue. Trump isn't just Trump. There's a global rumbling and realignment and that the US got Trump is a fluke. Too many takes about the moment (fine, fine, I write them, too
) but please allow a broader look as well. https://twitter.com/overlayered/status/981192468770250754 …This Tweet is unavailable.Show this thread

The real issue is that Trump is attacking Bezos because his paper prints things critical of the administration. If you show loyalty you get rewarded. If not, you get punished. It’s really that simple for our wannabe authoritarian.

Yet we've seen this happen in Turkey many times in the last decade. Use a legitimate reason to single out a company/opponent and you'll find support in the name of accuracy. If it is not about principles then it needs to be pushed back.
