I know people working in Silicon Valley feel defensive but... of course we want to hold these companies accountable for *all* the horrific stuff. Caught a few before going out to the world? Everyone at every industry does that, every day—with so much less privilege and resources.

Google is the second biggest company in the world by market capitalization. (Apple is 1st, Microsoft is 3rd, Amazon is 4th, Facebook is 8th). It invests billions in long-shot projects unrelated to its core business. We catch *some* horrific stuff is a wee bit weak as defense.

If they want recognition for this kind of thing involving the public or being in any way transparent about these processes *before* a defensive tweetstorm in wake of scandal might be a minimal step...
