Media did not follow CDC guidelines on suicide reporting for Robin Williams case, sensationalized the story, and that resulted in a 10% increase in suicide in period right after. There was a 32% increase in suicides by the same method after Williams’ death—in violation of CDC guidelines, method details were widely publicized. It’s fairly clear similar effect applies to mass shootings. Sensationalization, diagrams, weapon porn, cowering people on loop...
