Folks—and many of you— thank you but I have a job as an academic *and* as oped writer at NYT. Last fall, NYT asked me if I’d like to write more and I chose not to! Please don’t get mad on my behalf. If you want to lobby them—ask them to hire @tressiemcphd! https://twitter.com/elgringospeaks/status/963553737171177472 …

Yep. There is a
@tressiemcphd shaped whole on that page. I’ve been saying this for years. https://twitter.com/holden/status/963557957823643649 …This Tweet is unavailable.Show this thread -
If true (remember to me these are allegations because I don’t know everything about everyone) and if it’s an actual “friendship”, I’m jaw-on-the floor shocked. Don’t know if it needs clarification that I don’t advocate befriending Nazis. To say the least.https://twitter.com/jzb/status/963561565822873600 …

Oh dear. If there is one thing we don't need more of, it's condescendingly self-important, criticism-averse writers in our newspapers.

Such an admirer of your work and this is so disappointing. Not just your poor response to valid criticism, but the way you trotted out your support of a WOC as defense. You using that relationship, while naming and tagging that person, does you no favors here.

I’ve been openly advocating for Tressie to be hired by the New York Times for a long long time. The other is just a job announcement I saw and said congratulations to without knowing much—and people pointed me to stuff.
