Also, I've been teaching a version of computers/society/data/AI and ethics for ... as long as I've been teaching! I even wrangled to teach such a course when I was an adjunct! I often have CS students show up in my course just because that's where they could have the discussion.

I was at a data privacy seminar recently when the recently retired head of a computer science school dismissed the idea of teaching ethics and privacy on the grounds that "there isn't even room in the syllabus for the important stuff".

And it's not always done usefully. Took a CS ethics course ~17 years ago and learned very little that seemed useful.

Mostly the prof mused inexpertly about philosophy. My medical ethics courses were much better

Are there other disciplines that have done a good job of systematically embedding ethics into the core curriculum? Something to use as a model?

Engineering ethics is required for accredited Engineering programs in Canada. So software engineers see it. But not students in Computer Science (Unfortunately).
