Young lawyers and bankers in their 20's also work 80 hours per week. My point is not to valorize this per se. But I don't think we in academia can complain about work conditions. I'm confident that my lab is supportive to students; they are intellectually on fire and having fun.

There are many professions (especially in the US) that valorize or force overworking for sure!
