Chromebook people! Anyone have a docking or external monitor set-up they like? Seems I am doing so much on these cheap little machines that I should put a real keyboard and monitor on one for my home desk.

USB-C to HDMI monitor and any keyboard/mouse works.

To clarify, if your chromebook doesn't have HDMI port, get USB-C to HDMI adapter and it should work on any HDMI monitor. My kids have set their school chromebooks like that at home and it works great.

I occasionally use an external display with an HDMI cable - works pretty well.

I have always been able to get an external monitor working. But I don't find a way to disable the laptop screen and only use the external monitor. Would love to find a way to do that!

Sorry to hijack thread: security-wise, would you recommend a chromebook over a more traditional laptop. Been waffling on that for a couple of years now.

Yes, Chromebooks are a more secure OS by far, though you are trading security for privacy exposure to Google, though you can work at locking that down. Give your Chromebook its own gmail address.

My wife has been using a CB with an HDMI monitor and USB mouse/kbd for a few years now. Just close the CB to use the ext monitor

Depends on if you have newer Chromebook with USB-C or older one where you'll need separate connections for USB, HDMI, etc. #gHelp
