Yes, MLK Day has been turned into a Hallmark Holiday. Like all movements, it was composed of humans: heroic, faulty, amazing, fallible. But if there is one thing that I am still in awe of is their innovative, strong, evolving, brilliant tactical strength.

We focus on speeches or individual moments—and those are important! But, look, in 1963, they had to get hundreds of thousands in *and* out the same day—DC wasn't safe overnight for anti-racist marchers. It took an intense lengthy effort. That effort is what makes movements move.
