We’re discussing the post office? This is my NYT oped about discovering those red flags on mailboxes weren’t some sort of political protest—instead they meant HOME MAIL PICKUP. Mind, blown. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/03/opinion/why-the-post-office-makes-america-great.html …pic.twitter.com/0VdS02X41v

Anyway, happy new year to all, especially to @USPS and libraries—the two institutions that blew my mind when I arrived in the US. :-)

Right now, I’m extremely annoyed at @USPS — someone ~100 miles away sent me an important package via Priority Mail. Estimated delivery was *3* days, it didn’t make it, and the tracking status is still showing an estimated delivery date of yesterday. Next time, FedEx or UPS…

Besides, FedEx and UPS will disappoint sometimes, too.

Wait, what? When I saw mailboxes in movies with those little flags on them, I kind of assumed the postie would flag to say they'd put your mail in there. But they collect too? Mind blown here also.

They don’t collect in England? They’re right there. How much extra work is it for them to collect?
