Democratic side is *still* not funding electoral infrastructure anywhere near the Repub ecosystem. Infrastructure can’t just run on a grassroots on fire. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ https://twitter.com/jhweissmann/status/936777778401181697 …

I suspect some left-leaning rich don't like the concept of buying government. The fundamental problem here is that government is for sale. The symptom is that those who are willing to play that game end up winning.

No I don’t mean they don’t fund lobbyists. Dem big money drastically underfunds people running for office or building electoral infrastructure.https://twitter.com/arturius13/status/936986440558366721 …

I figured it had something to do with benefitting from the Republican class war, combined with reluctance to cede any real power to bottom-up actors.

They've been funding media alright, Trolls, Bots, owned publications... corporate trolling has been going on for years and people keep refusing to recognize it. They assume is a source commited to democracy, it's not.

I've been calling it out for years and there's been very little willingness to recognize what's been happening.

Entire premise of this thread is broken. Lamenting tech billionaires not funding party of higher taxes on rich is a fool’s errand. Even the altruistic ones want to control how their money is spent not give it to government. See BillG, Zuck, etc

Question is how to get representative democracy to work as intended within the system that we have not trying to convince megaruch to spend money buying elections against their own interests
