ha! Just found out that a professional PR agency that charges for access to contact info etc. for media writers can't tell me apart from another "zeynep tufekci" hence less accurate than Google News alert for my pieces. (Hi @muckrack).

For those keeping the score at home, just because my name is not common in one language doesn't mean it is a rare and uncommon name in the world.

You should encourage the others to get married and change their last names. All the other Adrienne Felts have been taken down this way; I'm the last one standing.

After years of writing “thanks for mentioning my work, though my last name really is spelled with a k before the c”, *I’m* ready to marry someone, anyone, whose last name is under three letters—preferably “the” or “and.” Pls introduce your friends, very few other demands.

As someone with a surname that is a common word, as soon as it becomes your surname people will be unable to pronounce it. "Zeynep The? Theeee? Tee-Har?" This is why so many people are called "Smith" or "Doe". I go under an assumed name for this reason.
