If I had written my op-ed for an academic audience, it would have encouraged the many scholars focused on algorithmic accountability from disparate disciplines to organize, within academia, and to fight for resources.

Hear hear. Issue isn’t lack of effort, it's getting through to an audience that often doesn’t want to hear it. Those who effectively spread others’ work should be celebrated not marginalized. (

(for my part I'd like to do what Jon Stewart did for politics, for this stuff) -
"Nobody is doing this" when so many are trying isn't a way to get attention or support to anyone. Anyway, just the social media response shows how many are *out there* in the public, trying. I've been trying for years, with much support from within academia.
