MUST-READ @hahriehan oped for anyone interested in social change. The right knows how to organize. That's their key. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/04/opinion/gun-control-nra-vegas.html …pic.twitter.com/xwt4xMCy8g

When I point this all out, that Tea Party, NRA, etc. actually have strong grassroots. People scoff in disbelief. Well, here we are.
Repubs have almost all state-legislatures, House+Senate, Presidency, 34 governors. Money mediates mostly as electoral infrastructure funds.
What about gerrymandering & voter suppression? An organized party notices this and manages 1-turnout at mid-terms; 2-organizing to overcome.
While digital tools have real use, their power in fueling marches, rallies etc. is blinding people to weaknesses of lack of infrastructure.
My book on strengths and weaknesses of digitally-fueled, mostly left, movements is available, as creative commons: http://www.twitterandteargas.org
But read this op-ed to understand why left/Dems have majority support for many positions but *cannot* bring change: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/04/opinion/gun-control-nra-vegas.html …pic.twitter.com/PmbYVdxoJi
They don't even exist. Left/Dem rich people do not fund electoral infrastructure. Right billionaires do. https://twitter.com/bhbradlow/status/915930667824893952 …
Yes, but also building that grassroots requires (modest) money. Dems/Left rich don't even fund that modest amount.https://twitter.com/_mightytweets/status/915937174381408256 …
Read the op-ed on top of this thread if you want to know why this is so. It's about organizing, not NRA donations.https://twitter.com/MMFlint/status/915306953836056576 …
