My smoke detectors have electrical hookup AND battery. But beep at 3am. Youtube has solutions—and many comments from fellow 3am sufferers.pic.twitter.com/zjtmXBrFDQ

Common problem: overdo warnings —why beep every min at first sign of low battery when there's electricity?—, then people disconnect it all.

Anyway, it's like legalese or overly complicated infosec instructions. Usually ends up with people worse off than with judicious warnings.

Yup. This happened to me a few weeks ago. Compressed air, no chirps since then.

Ripping them out and leaving a gaping hole in the ceiling to bent CO and smoke has worked for me in the past.

I watched my electrician install them, so I could immediately disconnect them, take the battery out, and shove them in a drawer. So evil.
