The trouble is, that’s an entirely false distinction. Something can be both. Also, what on *earth* do you mean by an ‘emaciated workforce’?
Too few people, given their business. Maybe should've used another term? Obviously FB cannot should not become ministry of truth. But also+
+..just too few people given the userbase size. Think of the things overlooked in the US—and imagine how that plays out and rest of world.
You are great at analyzing systemic and second-order effects of tech. This is no different. And issue isn't just a few crazy ads.
Given it is not possible to replace the automation with poeple, the size of the workforce is largely irrelevant.
No, humans for oversight plus extensive effort to anticipate these issues and quickly intervene. They always react only after PR crisis. +
For example when Facebook live was push the top of feed algorithmically, I screamed this would incentivize suicides, murders etc. there.
Absolutely predictable knowing what we know about copycat and attention effects. Only after PR crisis did they move to hire ppl oversight.
