not a nuke system but there is a very rapid movement to develop increasingly autonomous weapons, including ones capable of mass destruction.

I think you are confusing autonomy as in "deciding when to fire" for autonomy in "deciding when and where to be deployed and against whom"

I am not. The concrete policy being developed now especially around "semi-autonomy" is deliberately chipping away at such distinctions.
