The German left was fragmented in 30's: the social democrats feared the communists almost more than fascists. We should not make same error.

That was because the communists wanted to end parliamentary democracy and Stalin killed millions including thousands of social democrats.

Two things are required: violent reaction, and for liberals to then accept and promote fascist's "many sides" equivalency of risk.
