But I don't meet staff up the traditional US NGO way: top down. You need to staff up the current grassroots energy, interface with them.

Local people who organize. Local spaces. Local orgs doing real electoral work. Empower/train local grassroots.https://twitter.com/SilvanaRam/status/877383153530400768 …

Yep. Funding grassroots electoral work isn't funding fly-by-night stuff. All this would take time, money, effort.https://twitter.com/AlexanderMcCoy4/status/877377434303299584 …

Funding local infrastructure =/= giving money to people inexperienced at organizing.

Fetishizing localism isn't the answer either.

Which is not what I am doing. Skocpol is right: on the left, muscles of democracy have atrophied at the local level.

They do know how to do the big national campaign which is fine for presidential elections with the right candidate. But then that fails too.

You need to build back up the missing parts of the stool if there is to be a chance. 2018 election is next and it will play locally.

It will not play locally, it will be a nationalized election. Democrats lack a vision, not local infrastructure.

I don't disagree they lack a vision *at the national level*. You might be surprised at how much vision I encounter locally.

The monopoly stuff? Comes up. Unfairness? Comes up. And they absolutely lack local infrastructure outside of big deep blue cities.

And look, Ossoff underperformed Clinton. Why? Even with so much national attention, congressional races are local affairs.

Comes down to candidate, infrastructure, messaging, vision. But plays out locally. How do you underperform Clinton after last few months?

You try to pretend like Trump and Pelosi don't exist and offer no vision, which is what Ossoff did.

Nope, they aren't. The problems affecting them are global in scope. GOP ran a nationalized race against Ossoff, it worked.

The Democrats literally lost to a pro-poverty candidate. They have almost nothing left to pull out of their extremely small bag.
