the prob w/ the mass killings or suicide type guidelines and the politically motivated killings here is that, well, the latter are political
so efforts to curb or steer or shape coverage will smack of political interests or worse, censorship. we are balancing public need to know
the who, what, where, why, how and esp what happens to perpetrators with what may even be government wish to hide events or their response
so now there is hugely important info coming out re the perpetrators and their ties to (and breaks from) LIFG families, w relevant histories
if news didn’t focus on perpetrators and e.g. only victims, this info would not be in public domain.
all of which is to say it’s v complicated& hard to decide what info should/not be released when connected to political events in particular
