Plain truth: there is no donor class on the D side with the requisite urgency or will to fund anything. There is a huge one on the R side.

True, but wouldn't a downballot focus ignore a lot of uncompetitive congressional and senate races in places a POTUS candidate needs votes?

(I suppose the quite-competitive Senate races in PA/WI meant that there was already a reason to turn out people statewide in those anyway)
