So you're in favour of censorship and centralised control over content, so long as it's balanced, right, fair and just?

There's already censorship & central control over content. I would disband some forms of it. But hell yeah, I'd block live stream of murder.

So would I, but I wouldn't block creation or deployment of 1.8bn people's ability to livecast, in order to hamper a handful of sick people.

And I speak as the fmr architect for FB Messenger E2E, who was told "But Terrorists Will Use This!", yet we launched it for the greater good

Encryption protects fundamental rights; terrorists can already use it and it is rarely the reason they can't catch people. There, an excuse.

This will directly inspire copycat murder and suicide and on camera abuse. More like a car without breaks. People like to drive isn't enough

There we must divide, because I feel 1.8bn people indulging in copycat happiness is greater than a handful of mentally disturbed murderers.

Just like 1.8bn people communicating E2E, without need for FB/WhatsApp intercession in content, far exceeds the risk it presents to humanity

I must AFK, but I do hope we can continue this over a glass of wine some day.

this isn't the same as encryption at all. encryption reverses a wrong (surveillance) and restores rights that were trampled.
