all cardio, or plateau cardio? i've used running (interval training mixed w/ long distance) for weight management with great success
It works for some, as long as you keep it up (HIIT/long-distance is commitment!). Trouble: any hiccup in cardio w/out having built muscle.

Neglecting building muscles gets a lot of people into a negative spiral: lower metabolism, weight gain, even less exercise...

my understanding is stronger muscles also help prevent injury during cardio, esp. long runs
