Matt Pearce 🦅 Retweeted Daily Caller
the Daily Caller has a Malia thing and it's a little weirdhttps://twitter.com/DailyCaller/status/854786193887776769 …
Matt Pearce 🦅 added,
Isn't it better not to tweet about it? This is a very very young person going about her life.
Well, maybe let us not give more visibility to articles clearly needlessly violating her privacy? By linking to them?
(Screenshot at most?)
I can see screencapping. but at some level, I can't point out that something is gross without pointing out that something is gross.
It is a form of enabling and fueling it. I struggle with this a lot but when it is violating the privacy, you are just adding to it.
I mean, you can't condemn revenge porn by screening it for everyone and saying how horrible. This is a version of it, yes with more gray.
I could see the argument about magnifying a privacy invasion, but I don't see how you can argue that it enables and fuels it.
A portion of your followers will click on it; the company doesn't care if the clicks are in disgust or curiosity (and it will be both).
Fox News cared when people heard the O'Reilly accusations and started going after its advertisers.
Which shows going after money is a good path. Giving it clicks is giving it money, the opposite path. At a minimum, you can screenshot.
Granted. But I was taking contention with your argument to not even tweet about it.
I have this argument with myself a lot; I think for extreme privacy violations, not tweeting is often better. Or vague tweeting. No traffic.
