And the whole framing is lopsided. Not acceptable. The signatories to that letter among many real tech/security experts.
Again - I agree & am not defending the article itself. But the sourcing for this was well within current journalistic norms.
The real problem is the complexity of the topic and lack of support for tech journos. They are not malicious just under informed.
Which is why I think less adversarial approach will serve interests of activists and public in the long run (IMO obvs).
Perhaps; someone else should do that. I saw much real damage from this story and Guardian has people who should have known better.
