Twitter has threading, which encourages posting string of point, *and* quote-tweeting which encourages snarking on out-of context tweets.

No design consideration for the interaction. That's why every "tech" company with social features needs to hire social science folks.

It could well be that what you see as a bug, they see as a feature. Quoting starts a new convo. It's a branch-off point.

Maybe but it should give people options: don't let this/any tweet be quoted; put quotes in threads, etc.

they have never given us any tools to control our audience. But, respectfully, the kind of control you seek seems too draconian.

But the alternative is that I have a out of context tweet that I get harassed (needlessly—it's not a disagreement) for months.

I have had that happen to me as well. We rely on others' ethics to not quote it of context. I doubt pulling in the thread would help

Relying on other's ethics when the issue is control over my own attention doesn't work too well, though. Doesn't scale.

And, if I delete a tweet in the middle of a thread, there is no way for me to rethread. So much design potential, nothing done.

i don't think what you want is threading for quotes. You just want to control who may interact with your content.

If they are interacting with a thread, I want them to interact with the thread... That would be fine with me.
