I'm fine for seeing it as a safety net feature; doesn't replace the need for creating a more just set up than what we have.

by itself isn't a miracle cure for all ills but isn't it more just than the hodge podge of programs out there now?

Current system is horrific. I was trying to point out that a minimal income amidst great inequality is not a great path.

What you need is a renegotiation of how we value what people are and what they do, something against the idea they're redundant.

couldn't agree more and I think UBI works toward that. Is there an alternative to UBI that would do that?

Shorter work week and paying much better for (or paying at all) for a lot of care work (can't be automated) for one.

I definitely support that, but how? Are there examples of other countries mandating shorter workweeks by law?

wouldnt UBI help give workers the leverage to choose fewer hours?

Sure, but to be honest... none of this by itself is going to give workers much leverage. Need a wholesale renegotiation.
