Only a third of has college degrees; all income gains go to college-educated—and self-driving trucks are rolling out. Why is anyone worried? https://twitter.com/DKThomp/status/806497118563270656 …

They should all learn to code. Oh, wait. (Also: AI is going to eat up a lot of basic software jobs, too).https://twitter.com/jselingo/status/806463474989670401 …

Even the most far-out answer—minimal "basic income"—is nowhere near a solution. Will just free up people's time to gather up the pitchforks.

why not frame UBI as a more efficient and durable safety net? UBI wouldn't eliminate work, rather make it less exploitative

I'm fine for seeing it as a safety net feature; doesn't replace the need for creating a more just set up than what we have.

Current system is horrific. I was trying to point out that a minimal income amidst great inequality is not a great path.

What you need is a renegotiation of how we value what people are and what they do, something against the idea they're redundant.

Shorter work week and paying much better for (or paying at all) for a lot of care work (can't be automated) for one.

I definitely support that, but how? Are there examples of other countries mandating shorter workweeks by law?
