DDOS attacks are very common, and another reason why dissidents retreat to Facebook, so are now subject to algorithm & FB rules for posts.

It's 2016, and I wouldn't advise a dissident anywhere to host own blog. As soon as it mattered, they'd be easily taken down. FB or Google...

And this reality is also why Facebook's algorithm, it's rules for allowable content, Google's response to DMCA takedowns are all political.
