Turkish anti-censorship activists—the very people who you'd think Wikileaks would listen to—were the ones who alerted me to this trainwreck.
If you want to see a total non-answer, look here. A bazillion Turkish speakers pointed out these are mailing lists.pic.twitter.com/N9c7XXilpV
I mean, forget working with a Turkish speaker for 10 minutes, just check the emails. Here's an example.pic.twitter.com/oOYJs7V4Ap
Out of hundreds of thousands, I found ~300 emails total FROM AKP mailing address TO AKP mailing address. Most were spam. Few news articles.
Did someone hack this from an AKP server? I have no idea. What I do know is these are ordinary people's emails in a few big mailing lists.
Why Wikileaks needs a Turkish speaker. 1-Those aren't AKP emails. 2-"Gülen" means "smiling" in Turkish. Resort ads.

Here, Wikileaks shrugs spilling of private data on 10 million ordinary people. Because they're AKP rank-and-file...pic.twitter.com/8nUnMPCXUu
So, 10 million people have no right to avoid identity theft, fraud or stalking—because they belong to a political party? What is this?!?
Recap. AKP emails: aren't. 20 million women's private info? Now a false denial. 10 million AKP members? *shrug* This is "public interest"?!?
FWIW: I have not really commented on DNC stuff (I keep getting accused) Here's what I actually wrote:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/zeynep-tufekci/wikileaks-erdogan-emails_b_11158792.html …
FWIW: I believe in more transparency for powerful institutions. (Not full transparency.—can't sum in 140). I believe in privacy for persons.
I also believe nothing good is will come from reckless disclosures of private or mundane information under the guise of "public interest".
