For levity. Turkish Twitter's response to Wikileaks fundraising over its fraudulent "AKP emails" was hilarious. See:https://twitter.com/leblebizm/status/755523922897039360 …

I know many
#onhere have seen these but these threads get around. My article (with an update) on the whole thing.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/zeynep-tufekci/wikileaks-erdogan-emails_b_11158792.html … -
And another article, good especially on how the Wikileaks' misrepresentation spread far. http://nymag.com/selectall/2016/07/why-did-wikileaks-help-dox-most-of-turkeys-adult-female-population.html …pic.twitter.com/WgUJvqvm5e

If the community that wants to defend open information won't defend privacy & safety of ordinary people—censors will win with broad support.
-
This is why I write about encryption for ordinary people, too. The open internet will be killed with massive public support at this rate.
-
And Wikileak etc. dumps that range from fraudulent to unredacted—ordinary person's calls to DNC; child's voicemails—will be a major reason.
-
We must defend privacy & encryption for regular people; we must condemn people who don't care about privacy & safety of regular people.
-
Censorship willl be gotten around. Indiscriminate & dangerous dumping of their data is why people will acquiesce to draconian measures. /end

Let me end with the thread I began with. (But screenshot because I'm blocked by team "no curation"!) This was false.pic.twitter.com/W6D7zQwjmw
