Why is it controversial Assange won't talk about his sources when reporters regularly do the same in criminal cases?https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/07/31/julian-assange-wont-say-whether-a-foreign-government-was-involved-in-dnc-email-leak/ …

It's quite possible WikiLeaks' source had sinister motives. But so do a lot of sources. Should reporters give up sources based on motives?

He seems to do zero vetting though on what's in the public interest vs. just privacy violation or political talking points.

i'm not arguing that point - only the question of when reporters think it's now okay for others to divulge sources

And my point is he's not acting like a reporter. A responsible reporter would find source a relevant issue to consider.

I just think this should be recognized; not a responsible or reflective intermediary at the moment. Not a reporter by far.
