Germany did not emerge alone. It was showered with aid & given a path out. Middle East remains a land for proxy wars—its people disregarded.

Add it up: Europe fought more over Alsace-Lorraine than Middle East sects over a thousand years. Now no issue in EU.

The absolute bungling of the occupation was bigger issue than the war. Many friends went to Iraq; no issue at first.
