There have been many "non-respectable" protests that have been quite effective. But all the ones I know required intense self-regulation.

tbh, a lot of the problems step from this gen's idealization of "leaderless" protest. Occupy, then BLM, and now Trump.

it sounds good in theory--horizontal leaderless protests--but the lack of direction kills any real gains. b/c there are few goals.

Something like that. Effective movements regulate their own boundaries though. Great unwillingness to do so in the past decade.
