Math doesn't make algorithms scientific. Subjective decisions cannot be "neutral". My piece. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/19/opinion/the-real-bias-built-in-at-facebook.html …pic.twitter.com/78fh6C54Fs
You can add location information to your Tweets, such as your city or precise location, from the web and via third-party applications. You always have the option to delete your Tweet location history. Learn more
Lack of neutrality in these algorithms is inherent to the enterprise. That's what Facebook & the rest should own up.http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/19/opinion/the-real-bias-built-in-at-facebook.html …

.@zeynep That’s why I prefer “the algorithmically unfiltered Twitter platform.” *I* am the algorithm here (for me).
That's not even accurate though: unless you watch constantly, Twitter skips content too. Not sure it's deterministic.
@EpicureanDeal "The [Ferguson] story seemed to break through only after...outrage on...algorithmically unfiltered Twitter..."
That's something that I think is hard for most people to understand: the creators do not understand the algorithm! @davidmanheim
Understanding isn't the point. Algorithms intend to maximize something; picking what to maximize is the non-neutral decision.
