So, if you are wondering what Trump supporters think about the punching? They don't see it because it's a short event that you don't notice.

Also: Trump never says "Marco" without "little" and "Ted" without "lying." (LY-EN). What's their shorthand for what's wrong with Trump?

Rally yesterday also helped me conclude that while Trump uses Twitter to "hack" mass media attention, he is very much a broadcast candidate.

How "on the ground" diverges from later media story: I had no idea of the punching incident despite line of sight.pic.twitter.com/468iMwdk5r

(Also, I'm trying to explain something about dynamics of rallies and protests, I'm obviously not defending anything. I mean, duh.

"To understand" doesn't necessarily mean to sympathize. It also means, "to decipher how something works." I'm unapologetic about that.

You know who else provoked brawls with protesters to energize his rallies? No I'm serious. It's an old tactic.pic.twitter.com/DUe3VIdUjy

I watched his rally. The whole performance depends upon being interrupted by protests every 2-3 minutes, and the resulting energy/tension.

The confrontations and the "I don't condone punches but my very good, the best people are angry" is not incidental—it's central to the show.

Trump is a great stage-manager, connects to crowd. He wants & needs the protesters/"his people" tension. He waits for it. He pivots from it.

So, he can't & won't bring the protester/crowd tensions down. If it came down, he'd probably go try to provoke it up, or, heck, hire people.
