Online courses have a place and I personally love MOOCs. But anyone who's taught knows: teaching isn't dumping knowledge to empty vessels.

The way to make online courses pedagogically work well (unless you cream for great students) is teacher engagement aka makes them expensive.

@whimsley I think MOOCs are great for post-grad learners, exceptional students or the fly-by learners. I love them. They're like ... books. -
@whimsley Like books, MOOCs are a great resource. Like books, their existence does not solve the problem of "education" without teachers.
