Because of this antisemitism, US accepted very few refugees—10% of its quota. Hundreds of thousands, many kids, were trapped. They perished.
Yes, there will be issues settling so many refugees. But look, their problems in fleeing war are much greater than ours in accepting them.
But you know the worst way to do this? Build walls and pretend they are migrants. Few countries overburdened. Tensions and more ugliness.
Turning a blind eye to the refugee crises is a bit like turning a blind eye to climate change. Doesn't lessen crisis, just our preparedness.
There are more refugees today than at any time since WWII. The few global agencies that aid them have paltry budgets. Not sane or humane.
Putting the refugee burden on few, stressed countries is lousy policy. Rampant racism didn't work too well for Europe the last time around.
