Genuine question. I once had a medical doctor who swore by saline nose/throat gargling for upper respiratory tract illnesses—he was a by the book, orthodox, evidence-based doc. I did not research it. Anyone know the evidentiary status of his claim? I did not see a recent review.

Agreed but you’re prob aware there are myriad similar examples. In internal med alone there’s desparate need to study the therapeutic value of highly resonant communication, cheap high-dose Coumadin (vs pricy doacs), and other cheap, low risk interventions.

Isn’t that exactly why it doesn’t get studied? Unless the government funded it, private money would have no interest.. perhaps a charity might fund it?
