Another important result from South Africa, fitting well with the epidemiological data we are observing.https://twitter.com/virusmonologues/status/1476221749062688770 …

Well-preserved T cell immunity to Omicron is consistent with early clinical observations from South Africa, UK and Scotland of lower severity - a decoupling of case loads from hospitalisations, and shorter hospital stays, which may be due to this remaining T cell immunity

Reason number 9 why natural immunity is superior to inoculated immunity and always has been.https://academic.oup.com/jid/article/224/11/1849/6406613 …

Absolutely false and not in line with research. Get vaccinated and then any exposure will even further immunize you, providing the best protection possible. Not a debatable proposition at this point. Please find a better use of your time then spreading bullshit on social media.

Your suggestion that “hybrid immunity” can be achieved by infection after inoculation is not supported by evidence. Natural immunities’ superior protection has been consistently observed. Yes, it’s not really debatable that NI is superior to inoculation. It’s what we KNOW.

that you think 'hybrid immunity' doesn't exist or that getting vaccinations will prevent 'natural immunity' from taking hold indicates you don't know anything about the topic.

You’re inventing dilemmas. Hybrid immunity and its protective effect has been observed in multiple studies. In all of them what was specifically studied was vaccination after infection. We don’t have the evidence yet if reverse sequence provides same protection.

This is so disrespectful, Brendan—South Africa had an incredibly high death toll, to acquire what you are calling "natural" immunity. They paid the huge price, therefore saying it is "better" is incredibly insulting—if they had been vaccinated, many more would have survived.

The immune system is just as natural when it functions after vaccines, and acquiring immunity without the risk of infection is clearly a better path. Please drop me from this conversation, so deeply insulting to the suffering in South Africa from this virus.

Ah. So a purely semantic-based argument? Curious. That “better path” is not clear from evidence for all age groups. For MANY that “better path” ship has already sailed. It’s not remotely insulting. It’s insulting to consistently ignore evidence that brings tangible hope.

NI is a consistently used term across multiple arenas that communicates exactly what we’re discussing and it’s disingenuous to play word games when discussing lives. Inoculated immunity & infection acquired immunity are CLEARLY different. The latter clearly more protective.
