A really good and forthright conversation between @chrislhayes and Dr. Fauci
On CDC isolation guidelines
Not sure I agree with argument against using rapid tests to clear people out of isolation
But this is a very good discussion, well worth your timehttps://www.msnbc.com/all-in/watch/dr-fauci-explains-new-cdc-isolation-guidelines-129732165818 …

The interchange in another thread between
@mugecevik and@NathanGrubaugh is key here: we haven't seen the empirical data or modeling on which this is based. We don't know the trade-offs that are being made. -
Rapid tests may not be predictive at the individual level with absolute certainty, but I find it hard to believe they are not probabilistically predictive at population level—as a public health tool. Ceteris paribus, better containment with test-to-stay than "X-day and done", no?

So the incoherence comes from what we are not acknowledging publicly, in my opinion. Because test-to-stay makes sense, but not an option when you don't have enough tests to begin with.

A year into the Biden administration and we have no tests. Alrighty then

I keep wondering if my better fitting ASTM 3 procedure mask is better than my difficult-to-fit KN95s. I can feel the air shooting out around the KN95, but the ASTM3 lays flat against my face on each side and billows when I breathe. It feels like a far better fit…
-
I would pick fit over filter between those choices, but you might want to shop around for a better fit KN95 or consider layering. I have an N95 brand that fits me very well, but others not so much.
