So, let’s update? Instead of triaging test availability for critical industries, we’ll have healthcare workers return to work on day six even without a negative test, and even if they still have symptoms. Meanwhile many ordinary workplaces require PCR confirmation of rapid tests.https://twitter.com/zeynep/status/1471847760722894848 …

In case it’s not obvious, many places in the U.S. may run out of PCR testing capacity soon. I don’t think the fact that many vaccinated will test positive has sunk in. Current quarantine/isolation guidelines don’t fit an Omicron wave. I think we have a communication emergency.

Many patients in hospitals are already frail. The last thing they need is getting infected there. We all get the staff shortfall crisis. But why not preserve testing capacity for healthcare, and have sensible rules like no symptoms plus two negative tests a day apart for return?

“It seems as if even at this late date, the C.D.C. is trying to appease everyone, and therefore pleasing no one. What would be better is a more evidence-driven approach.”—@aaronecarroll.https://twitter.com/nytopinion/status/1475910447589216264 …

“The C.D.C. should develop further guidelines, right now, that allow for those who are vaccinated and boostered to leave isolation as soon as possible after they have tested negative repeatedly with antigen tests,” writes @aaronecarroll. https://nyti.ms/3sFr5xm

As a home health patient who gets a 5 day infusion every month, I just told my team no one is coming in this house w/ out a rapid test first. I’ll provide the tests.

At-risk patients need frequent tests. Ideally staff could stay home if not feeling well or if symptomatic, but may be needed to work if they test negative. So if rapid tests have high false positives in asymptomatic cases, isn't it possible a case w/ "symptoms" is just allergies?

The research states many unanswered questions about transmission remain, particularly for asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic cases. We can prioritize rapid tests for high-risk people. Healthcare staff with symptoms take sick days. Asymptomatics should mask near vulnerable patients.

I'm confused. Haven't you been pushing the (premature) "it's mild" hypothesis? What is the overlap in the Venn diagram where on one hand we're telling people that catching O is no big deal and on the other want to remind people to remember those among us are medically frail?pic.twitter.com/FEPXRiKuwz
