Many patients in hospitals are already frail. The last thing they need is getting infected there. We all get the staff shortfall crisis. But why not preserve testing capacity for healthcare, and have sensible rules like no symptoms plus two negative tests a day apart for return?

Although not a zero sum interaction, it is clear that isolation, vaccination and masking have a negative relationship with segmenta of the economy. What is needed is a government that protects AND supports those inevitably harmed. Good luck with all the selfservers in congress.
